Knife Rights Washington “Spring Blade” Ban Repeal Passes Senate!

On March 14, 2025, Knife Rights Director of Legislative Affairs, Todd Rathner, successfully lobbied for SB 5534, a bipartisan bill aimed at repealing the ban on sales and civilian possession of “spring blade” knives in Washington. The bill passed the Senate with an overwhelming vote of 46-2 and is now headed to the House for further consideration.

SB 5534 not only seeks to lift the ban but also aims to clarify that spring blades will not be classified as “dangerous weapons.” This legislative effort has garnered support from key sponsors, including Senators T’wina Nobles and Phil Fortunato, as well as Senate Law & Justice Committee Chair Manka Dhingra.

Knife Rights has been at the forefront of advocating for knife owners' rights, successfully enacting 51 bills that have repealed knife bans across 32 states and over 200 municipalities since 2010. The organization continues to push for a more favorable legal landscape for knife enthusiasts.

For those interested in supporting this cause, Knife Rights encourages donations to help further their mission of rewriting knife laws in America.
